It is a wonderful idea to show these pictures and maybe it will show to many people that Africa is something else than they imagine. I am fascinated by African culture and looking forward to see more pictures from Ethiopia.

Sara: "This is Iyerus, a friend of mine who I met at the YWCA. She was a member of a young women's group called 'Alen Tesfa' and trained in dress-making and sewing. YWCA gave them a place to work and I was one of the volunteers assigned to help the group in marketing their products. Now she is on her own making traditional clothes, bags and scarves and doing embroidery. She's wearing one of her scarves. I am still assisting her by giving her ideas and buying things from her. Iyerus is a high-spirited young girl with lots of ideas. I like her strength, motivation and efforts to transform her small business to a bigger entity."

Sara: "This is one of the flowers in our garden. I took the picture when I was walking in the garden after it had stopped raining. The brightness of the colour with drops of water from the rain gave it a beautiful appearance."

Ashe: "Many young boys in Addis follow this hair style. The decoration in my friend's hair is made of wood. The style comes from male Ethiopian emperors and heroes. Emperor Teowdors of Gondor and Emperor Yohannes of Tigray are famous for braided hair. Now it's back in fashion!"

Worki: "The children are attending classes in non-formal education centre, which is the only centre close to them. I like it that they are enjoying the class and are smiling at a funny thing they heard in class. Education is important to children in changing the lives of the young."
