Nineteen Ethiopians turn their cameras onto their own lives and invite you to share their very personal perspectives.
From diverse backgrounds and different parts of the country, their photographs give a rare insight into life in Ethiopia now. Over a period of six months, the photographers will capture their own day-to-day lives and upload photos and audio clips to their 'blog' website Ethiopialives.net.
People from all over the world will be invited to email in comments to the participants. The project will be launched in Addis on 20th June 2005 and in the UK on 3rd July 2005.
The participants are from the capital city Addis Ababa, Yabello in the Borana region in the southern part of the country, and Mekelle in the Tigray region in the north offering a wide balanced representation of views. Co-ordinated by the CAFOD/ Trocaire regional office in Addis Ababa the participants were selected through diverse local partner NGO's; the Ethiopian Gemini Trust, Medical Missionaries of Mary (MMM), Action For Development (AFD), Daughter's of Charity, Mekelle (DOC) and the Adigrat Diocese Catholic Secretariat (ADCS).
A month long series of workshops was held in May 2005 by the professional photographer Annie Bungeroth to provide training in the latest communications technology in photography, audio and the internet. |
