Newly-married Karayu is a member of the Boran and lives 60km from Mega town, the capital of Dirre. He walks 12 hours once a week into the town to recharge his camera batteries.

Karayu attended school until he was ten, but his family needed him to help with the livestock, so he allowed his younger brother to have an education instead – and he is now attending a government school in Yabelo.
