| 'Bekolo" means corn, in Amharic - our language. This is the season for fresh corn, it is sold everywhere in the streets of Addis. We eat the fresh corn roasted on charcoal or boiled in water. This is especially good for a snack, with coffee ceremony or when we just sit and chat in the evenings. Roasting the corn can also be fun, holding the tip not to get your hand burnt and watching it so that it won't char. After it is roasted it has a beautiful mixture of colours. In this picture, my friends are roasting the corn and it seems that they haven't done a good job because someone has an found uncooked part and are placing it back to the charcoal!
