| The Mekelle photographer Ara'aya lives in the Mayzigzag region. I knew that as a boy he had been affected by the famine - I imagined something quite different- it is very beautiful and looks so similar to an andean landscape. The earth is deep orange in colour and there is an abundance of cactus and Eucalyptus trees.
Since ADCS has been working in the area farmers have been building stone walls to keep the animals away from their crops and irrigational systems are being put in place thus assuring food security.
