The engagement ceremony  / « Voriges Foto« Nächstes Foto

This is an orthodox priest giving a blessing at Nishan's engagement ceremony. The priest, after performing the engagement ceremony asks the newly engaged people to promise to each other in front of God. They are invited to keep their words and love for each other etc. Then, after repeating the priest's words, he blesses them with his cross and both of them kiss the cross of Jesus Christ. Christian people in Ethiopia invite priests from their church to give them a blessing in a ceremony like an engagement, a wedding or a small cerebration. I like the ceremony because it is unique and a special day for the people that are engaged to be married.
